A great place to start is by supporting your local Scottish Festivals.
What will you see at a Scottish Festival? Usually you will find Competition of all kinds. Highland Dancing, Piping-Individual and Pipe Band, Fiddle, and Heavy Athletics. ( There may even be amature events that you can try, and Childrens games to give the kids a taste of competition). There will usually be vendors that will sell a wonderful assortment of Scottish wares. Clothes, jewlry, books, etc.
The Clan tent will help you learn more about
your history.
Stop in and talk to your convener. We
love meeting new "Cousins"!
Contact your
Regional Commissioner
and volunteer your help. Get involved!
We can always use an extra hand and new ideas!
Find a Scottish Society in your area and join it. Most societies are created to gather folks just like you, who are interested in sharing information about our heritage and generate interest in things that are happening in and around Scotland.
Learn about our music, both old and new. There are wonderful songs from the old days and great bands that are touring with new music that is just as great.
Learn about our Scottish dress . What should you wear and how should you wear it?
If there are other areas that I haven't covered and you would like to see them here, please let me know and I will try to comply.
